Angel
– Angel was found
evacuating New Orleans on her own out I-10 by two fellows that were
also evacuating because of Katrina. They picked her up and brought
her to Austin along with their own 4 dogs. They turned her over
to rescue for proper care and placement with the request she be
named Angel. She's now UTD and tested HW-. She's a very smart little
girl as evidenced by the fact that she knew to get out of town when
the storm was coming. She learned her name instantly and also the
sit command. She's about 10 inches tall and weighed 8 lbs when she
came into rescue. ASR held her for 90 days as a foundling to give
her owners an opportunity to find her. It didn't take long to housebreak
her and she made friends with the resident shelties in her foster
home. She loves to play with other dogs, and doesn't know that she's
small. After the 90 day waiting period, Angel was spayed. She made
herself right at home with her foster mom and that's now her furever
home. She's up to 11.5 lbs and tries to throw her weight around
by bossing the big dogs. Her furever mom says she's a real character
and is very entertaining with her antics and interactions with the
other Shelties.

Kirby–
Kirby is an oversized 4.5 year old Tri male that is extremely gentle
and loving with a full collar and tipped ears. He needed cleaning
up when he came into rescue but was very happy to accommodate the
brush. Kirby is up to date on all shots, neutered, HW- and on heartworm
preventative. He gets along with the resident shelties and loves
small children. He is a bit concerned about men but the foster family
is working slowly and gently to let him know that there is no reason
for worry.

Daisey-
Daisey is a darling little bi-black, 10 year old sheltie that has
come to us because her family is being sent overseas. She is up
to date on all her shots, HW- and on heartworm preventative. Daisy
is only about 14 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. We are told that
this little doll loves to get in the swimming pool which is why
her coat is cut short. Daisy loves everyone and gets along well
with other dogs and children.

Shelley
- Shelley came to us from Buchanan Dam.
She is about 17 - 18 inches tall, 44 pounds, 3 years old, and very
friendly. It looks like she was shaved at the beginning of summer
and the hair is growing out. Shelley is UTD on her vaccinations,
HW- and spayed. She is a sable merle and has some gorgeous silver
coloring around her face with little bit of blue in one eye. Shelley
loves to be brushed and petted and knows to sit and stay on command.
She loves to play fetch and tug with her foster mom. The resident
sheltie puppy has tried to engage her in puppy play but she prefers
her own attention, she’s claims to be too mature for puppy
play but likes to chase him around the yard. To get her girlish
figure back Shelley makes lots of trips up and down the stairs all
day and loves the several walks in the great outdoors. Shelley is
alert to noises outside and will let the family know with a nice
low bark. She’s a sweetheart and very loving.

Fallon
is a 5 1/2 year old intact female that was recently released to
our program. She is about 14 inches tall and is a gentle, dainty
young lady. She was a little unsure of all the changes in her life
but gave her rescuer sheltie kisses when she realized she was safe.
Now that things have settled down for Fallon we find that she gets
along well with other dogs, cats and with children. She loves to
go for walks and does well on a leash. Fallon is up to date on all
her shots, is HW- and is on HW preventative.

Ginger
- Ginger came to us from the local shelter,
she had been surrendered to them because of a death in the family.
Ginger is a 5 year old red sable and white female, she is spayed,
up to date on all of her shots, HW-, and is on heartworm preventative.
She stands about 16 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds, she is on
a diet and that along with exercise she will have her girlish figure
back in no time. A trip to the Vet found that Ginger is hypothyroid
like many dogs and humans. She is being given inexpensive pills
daily to regulate the thyroid, to which the dogs respond beautifully.
This will also help to reduce her weight. Ginger gets along well
with other dogs, always has a smile on her face and a bounce to
her walk. She loves to run and play with toys and tries to catch
tennis balls. She does have a tendency to herd cars when they pass
on her walk; her foster mom is working on this and has already seen
improvement. She loves everyone and is happy to give snuggles and
kisses. Her foster mom says that she can Sit, Down and Stay on command.
Adopted October 2005 |

all her shots, tested for heartworms and found to be HW-, and spayed.
She is a sable and white, year old, tall, lanky cowgirl, about 16
inches tall and 24 pounds. Very sweet and a bit timid but gives
sheltie smiles and lots of tail wags. She walks well on a leash
and is housebroken.

about 18 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds (yes, there is a
diet in his future!). He loves to be brushed and petted. He gets
along with other dogs, he's housebroken and up to date on all of
his shots. Brady is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.
Brady enjoys taking walks but is a bit concerned about very loud
noises like garbage trucks and cement trucks. He is very friendly
and really likes people, including children. He also loves to be
brushed.

Allie
is a tiny sable and white sheltie that is looking for a new home.
Her owner was moved into a nursing home and the family turned to
rescue for help with Allie. She is a sweet little girl that is a
bit shy at first. Allie will do sheltie spins when it's time to
play fetch with the tennis ball or frisbee. She knows several commands
and loves to be close to her foster mom. Allie is not yet comfortable
with a leash but is learning fast. Allie enjoys and knows how to
ask for one on one attention but can also entertain herself. Her
foster mom says that Allie is a snuggle bug. She is housebroken
and quickly grasped the concept of the doggie door. Allie is up
to date with vaccinations, is spayed, is HW- and is on heartworm
preventative. She weighs 22 pounds and is about 13 inches tall.

them eagerly and with a wagging tail. Sirrus likes to play but perfers
to be petted. He also likes cats and dogs but is very food motivated.
Sirrus also walks well on a leash but he is a little concerned with
loud noises. He is about 17 inches tall and is up to date on all
of his shots. Sirrus is HW- and is on heartworm preventative. His
rescuer says he is a real sweetie. Adopted July 2005. |

Judah
- is an owner surrender thru no fault of his own. He is a 10
year old, neutered sable and white sheltie. His records say he is
10 years old but his rescuer says he is quite an agile, active young
man...and smart too. He walks very well on a leash, knows several
commands including sit, stay, down, and nighty-night. Judah gets
along well with other dogs, loves children, is very friendly and
loves to play with toys. He is about 17 inches tall and weighs about
30 pounds. He is healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, HW-
and is on heartworm preventative.
A note from his foster: Judah enjoys
being a part of a family and with people. He gets excited to see
us when we come in, even if we have just been gone for a few minutes.
He likes to play and will bring us his toys and he and the resident
sheltie are the backyard watchers for whatever creatures may fly
or come down a tree within their territory. Adopted May 2005.
Update:
Judah is doing great!!!
We love him so much, it seems like he has been with us forever.
He loves to sleep with my oldest son, Cody, and he plays with his
new sisters, Shelby and Libby - also a rescue dogs. Judah enjoys
being a part of a family and with people. He gets excited to see
us when we come in, even if we have just been gone for a few minutes.
He likes to play and will bring us his toys. He and the resident
sheltie are the backyard watchers for whatever creatures may fly
or come down a tree within their territory. We are looking forward
to many happy years with him and the girls. |

Nigel
- Nigel appears to be a sheltie/papillion mix. He was surrendered
to TLAC because of changes in the family lifestyle. Nigel is 5 years
old, neutered, up to date on all shots and vaccinations, he is HW-
and is on heartworm preventative. Nigel gets along well with other
dogs and with cats. He is housetrained, does well on a leash, and
knows a few obedience commands. Nigel loves to sit in your lap and
snuggle real close.
Adopted May 2005
Update:
Nigel is a real sweetheart. He LOVES his squeaky toy ... he’s
the first dog I’ve ever had who just wanted to squeak it,
not pull the squeaker out. He’s super-soft, inside and out
... when a foster dog got spooked and hid under our bed, Nigel found
him, lay next to him, and whimpered in sympathy. He loves to cuddle,
to give kisses, horde toys, and take naps like a rag doll. We’re
definitely in love with the little fella.

Colby
(was Cash) - is
2 to 3 year old neutered male sheltie that was recently found in
Lakeway. He is very well mannered, housebroken, and knows several
obedience commands. He loves to be groomed, is very good on a leash
(will even carry his own leash to help out) and loves to go on walks.
We don't know yet how he is with children or with cats but we have
a feeling that he will do well. Cash is about 17 or 18 inches tall
and weighs 48 pounds. He's on a diet and exercise plan to bring
some of those pounds off. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations,
is HW- and is on heartworm preventative.
Adopted May 2005
Update:
We are so happy to have Colby (was Cash) in our family! He
very slowly and with hard work earned Susan's (our 8-year old sheltie)
trust, he very politely waits for his morning meal to be served,
he graciously accepts our belly pats, his self discipline is to
be admired when he does not even roam the upstairs unless escorted,
his excitement escalates when walks are offered, he even carries
his leash on the walks, the door may be left open for the groceries
to be brought in and he does not even put a paw outdoors. Resting
on his loveseat is a known ritual. What a good boy! But wait, there
is a catch: his snack attacks are well known. No bread survives
his reach. Getting his tummy full of hydrogen peroxide after each
chocolate fix has not abolished these chocolate cravings. Needless
to say our kitchen has been reorganized and we have learned that
a determined puppy will get his way. He keeps us on our toes but
we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you Austin Sheltie Rescue
for allowing him to enter our lives. |

Bandit
- Bandit has just
come to us because of a change in his family's life. Bandit is 6
years old, weighs about 30 pounds and is on a diet, and stands about
16 inches tall. He is healthy, up to date on all his shots, HW-
and is on heartworm preventative, and is housebroken. The rescuer
that picked him says that he is calm, gets along with other dogs,
he's very friendly with lots of tail wags, and likes to be groomed.
We've been told that Bandit loves to play frisbee. Adopted April
2005.
Update:
Bandit is very happy in
his new home with his new sibling Missy and a temporary sibling
sheltie we're fostering from the Rescue, Allie Mae. In fact, he
was my first foster from the Rescue, but I knew right away that
he wouldn't be leaving. Missy adjusted to him quickly as well and
they get along so well; it's like he's been here much longer. |

Jack
(was Jock)- Jock
aka Jok-Jok, is a 3 year old, affectionate, gorgeous sable merle
male with a "magic" right eye that's swirled blue and
brown. He was rescued from the local shelter. He's loving without
being too clingy, he loves to get hours of pets and tummy rubs ...
but if you don't have time for that, he'll take a raincheck and
go watch the world through a window. He likes playing ball, he loves
"chase me/chase you," and gets along well with strangers
and other doggies. Jock is UTD on all shots, neutered and HW-. Adopted
April 2005.
Update:
Jack (formerly "Jock") completed his seven-week obedience
course last night, and the trainer was extremely pleased with his
performance. He even broke the record for "attention"
without looking away (about one minute).
Jack's had a busy time already this summer. He's been kayaking at
Lake Buchanan, swimming in our pool, chasing water from the hose
and even entertaining a visiting dog or two. He will even be taking
a trip to the beach with us in about a month. I think he'll really
enjoy that. He's really a wonderful dog and is coming along well.
He's doing better now around other dogs and deer when we walk him
on his leash. In fact, he's mostly ignoring them unless they suddenly
run away.
We are as pleased as we can be with him. He's very smart and has
become an entertaining and loving companion to both Patience and
me.

Annie-
Annie is a sable and white,
4 to 6 year old female sheltie. She is a happy little girl and met
her rescuer with sheltie smiles, tail wags and lots of sheltie spins.
Annie has made a trip to the vet and is now up to date on all her
shots and rabies, she is HW- and is on heartworm medications. She
is about 15 inches tall and a bit overweight at 30 pounds. Her foster
mom is helping her get plenty of exercise and good nutrition and
we're sure she will drop those extra pounds real soon. Everyone
who meets Annie says she is one of the sweetest, most affectionate
little girls around. Adopted
April 2005.

Prancer
- Prancer is a Sheltie/Collie
mix, about 17 or 18 inches tall and weighs about 30 pounds (could
gain a few pounds). She was on the run for several months in the
Cedar Park area until a kind woman was able to bring her into her
home. Prancer is very shy and timid and is not comfortable with
a leash, foster mom and daughter are working on this. She loves
children, cats and other dogs but is quite reserved around adults.
Prancer is house trained and crate trained, she loves her crate
for sleeping and security. She is brand new to the program so we
are in the process of getting her up to date on all her vaccinations
and tests. Adopted March 2005. |

Lizzie
- Lizzie
is a lovely, small Collie running around 23 inches and 65 lbs. She
is very well behaved -- doesn't beg, or make a fuss -- house trained,
walks well on the leash and knows the basics such as sit and down.
Generally quite placid, she's more than happy to play tug and romp.
She's friendly and not shy at all, but doesn't jump or make a nuisance
of herself when she greets people. She gets along well with other
dogs, but the excitement she shows when she sees a cat might indicate
she would be a worrier to house cats. Adopted February 2005.
Update:
Both Lacene and I would
like to thank the Austin Sheltie Rescue Center for their support
in taking care of dogs that otherwise would be destroyed. We adopted
Lizzie a few months ago and what a blessing she has been. Not only
does she get along with our current pet (Britney) a 5-pound Yorkie
she gets along with the entire neighborhood. Lizzie loves her playtime
and evening walks. She enjoys playing with Lacene at lunchtime and
me during the evening hours - she will let us know when it's time
for her walk around the neighborhood and she wants to visit her
friends. All our neighbors know her by her name and their pets await
her visit. She is such a joy to our lives. As I type this, she is
laying here in the computer room, dreaming about something as her
feet are moving like crazy as she is chasing something. She shows
her love and joy with hugs and kisses each and every day. All our
neighbors await her visit each and every night to see if she is
doing okay: they want to get their daily visit and kiss from her. |

Max
(was Jack) - Jack
is a sable and white male, 2-4 years old, HW-, UTD on all exams
and vaccinations and neutered. Jack is about 17 inches tall and
weighs about 20 pounds. He walks well on a leash and gets along
with the resident sheltie just fine. Jack is sweet and calm when
humans are around, but he does have some separation anxiety, preferring
to be with his family at all times. He also loves children and other
dogs. Adopted
February 2005.
Update:
Right after I got him, my nephew started calling him Max, and
he has been Max ever since. He has me walking more than I ever have,
as he loves going around the neighborhood seeing what is going on.
I am working with a professional on some behavioral issues (he is
aggressive to other dogs), but amazingly, he is the nicest dog around
children - especially my niece who is terrified of dogs. She loves
him. We went out on a pontoon boat last week. I never new a Sheltie
that loves water as much as him! Overall, someone was looking out
for us. We are a perfect fit. |

Tres
- Tres is tricolor
male, 4 years old. He will be assessed further at the vet and brought
up to date on vaccines. Tres will also be neutered. He appears to
be housebroken and knows some commands. Adopted
February 2005. |
