local shelter. Abby is 2 years old, stands about 15 inches tall
and weighs 21 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations,
HW- and on heartworm preventative. Abby is a snuggly, loving little
girl that loves to climb into your lap or lean into your leg. Abby
appears to be a natural born athlete, her first trip across her

Kitsune
(aka Kit) or little
fox in Japanese is an energetic, happy 9 month old puppy that recently
came to us from TLAC. Kit is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered,
heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He is 'mostly'
house trained and he gets along well with the resident dogs, loves
to run and be chased. His foster mom says "This little charmer
wants nothing more than to snuggle and be loved. His whole body
wiggles when he wags his tail, which is often. He's a very quick
learner and has the potential to be a fine "fetcher".
He's got speed and will focus in when you get his attention - possibilities
for flyball or frisbee here maybe. He uses those long legs well
- he was like lightening going after a toy last night. Another way
he uses them is to roll over on his back and wrap his paws around
your arm. It's funny how very "fox like" he really is."
Kit also has a calm nature and is willing to just lay and watch
what is going on around him. Did I say he loves to be petted? Oh
yes, he loves to be petted and snuggled.

May
- Adopted September 2006. Her new mom has this to say about May:
I just wanted to tell you how wonderfully May is fitting in in our
home. She is a great pet and has warmed to us very quickly...May
loves to "super-streak," but calms down instantly when
we decide playtime is over. She sleeps through the nights on a wingback
chair near the bed, and knows that is her nighttime bed. If I get
up during the night, she's right there at my side the minute I'm
out of bed...As you can tell, we are already inamored with her!
She is already family! Thanks for bringing her to us! |

Ginger
jis a sweet 5 year old sable and white female that came to us because
her family is moving out of state and cannot take her with them.
She stands about 22 inches tall, and is up to date on all vaccinations,
heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and is spayed. She
gets along wonderfully with children, other dogs and cats. Ginger
does not jump on the furniture, is perfectly housetrained and is
a delight to have around.
UPDATE - Ginger found her Forever Home
before we even had a chance to get her on our website as available.
The prospective adopters came to meet her and she immediately laid
claim to them. They hadn't been in the room with her for just a
few minutes when she went over to them and leaned in close. This
lucky girl is now home and very much loved.

Nikita
just
came into the program from Brazos County. Her owner was moving and
was forced to relinquish Nikita to rescue. She is 16 inches tall
and may weigh 45 pounds, exercise and diet are in her future. Nikita
was born in 1998 and will be 8 years old this December. As you can
tell from the pictures she is a quiet, calm sheltie and oh so very
sweet. She just loves belly scratches and tummy rubs, if you sit
on the floor she will come over and put her head in your lap and
let you know you are wonderful. She is house trained, leash trained,
crated trained and knows some obedience. Nikita is spayed, is up
to date on all vaccinations, HW- and is on heartworm preventative.

Whimsey
is a somewhat shy 2 to 4 year old sable merle and white sheltie
that recently came to us from Harker Heights. Animal Control found
her dragging her leash and no one ever came to reclaim her. Whimsey
is 14 inches tall and weighs 29 pounds, yep...there is a diet in
her future along with exercise. Whimsey came to us shaved but we
know with a little time she is going to have a glorious coat, with
patches of silver. She is up to date on all vaccinations, is HW-,
on heartworm preventative, and is spayed. Whimsey warms up to people
very quickly and has started giving sheltie kisses. She is working
very hard on housebreaking and loves to take morning walks (afternoon
too). With a healthy diet and her morning exercise Whimsey is losing
weight and her hair is starting to grow, she is going to be so adorable
when she gets a full coat. She gets along well with other dogs and
really isn't concerned with cats.

Chance
Ready to Love
Chance is ready for a loving home.
A bit timid by nature he needs a patient, gentle person who can
show him how wonderful life can be. If you ever wanted a dog who
thinks you're the best thing in the world, this is the one. He loves
to cuddle, to get pets, and to go for walks. He'll follow you around
like a fuzzy shadow, and keep you company. Chance LOVES to take
walks! Nothing is better than a good sniff-walk! The only time we
hear him bark is when he's excited because the leashes have come
out!
Chance was lost and on his own for
six months, so he needs a bit more attention than most shelties
but he is very dog-friendly. He would be happy in a home where he's
the only dog (and can hog all the attention!), a quiet household
where he can relax, or a home with other young, playful dogs. Chance
was born in December 2003, he is up to date on all vax, on heartworm
preventative, is about 16 inches tall and weighs around 25 pounds.

Obi
is a sable merle and white male who is 6 years old (will turn 7
in August). The owners relunctantly made the decision to relinquish
him to our program because their youngest child made him very nervous.
Obi is a handsome fellow with some
beautiful colors in his coat; and the colors change in different
types of light. Since he has some merle in him, when he is outside,
his coat has a silvery sheen. He weighs 28 pounds and stands appx
16 inches tall. He got a clean bill of health from his visit to
the vet where they brought him up-to-date on his vaccinations. He
is HW- and on heartworm preventative. He will be scheduled to have
his teeth cleaned soon.
Obi is a mild mannered, well behaved
dog who gets along well with other dogs, cats and OLDER children.
He likes to be brushed and enjoys his baths. He walks very well
on a leash and looks forward to his daily walks. He travels very
well in a car. He is a quiet dog and not a barker. He is housebroken
has been a perfect guest in his foster home.
This sweet, gentle, and lovable dog
is cautious and reserved when he first meets you. However, in just
a few days, he starts to warm up and will be give you lots of sheltie
kisses!
Obi will probably do best in a home
with either no children or only 1 older child. He will not do well
in a house with alot of activity and noise.

Rio
is a 2-3 year old sable and white male with beautiful markings.
He was relinquished by his owners since they did not have time for
him. He weighs 30 pounds and stands appx 16 inches tall. He was
extremely dirty when rescued, but immediately turned into a handsome
prince after being bathed several times. He did very well on his
first visit to the vet where he got a clean bill of health and they
brought him up to date on his vacations. He is HW- and is scheduled
to be neutered and to have his rear dewclaws removed.
He is a mild mannered, well behaved
dog who gets along well with other dogs and children. He loves attention,
likes to be brushed, and wants to cuddle and give kisses. He enjoys
his walks where he is so curious about everything. He is a very
smart dog and is quickly learning some basic commands. So far he
appears to be a quiet dog and not a barker. He travels very well
and enjoys his rides! We don’t know if he is housebroken;
however, so far he has been very good in the house and not had any
accidents.
This sweet, gentle, and lovable dog
who is so eager to please deserves a home where he will get a lot
of love and attention. Whoever adopts this dog will get a wonderful
loving companion who will be forever grateful for his good home!

Simon
is a 4 to 6 year old sable and white male. Simon was found wondering
in a neighborhood in North Austin. His finder posted signs but no
one ever called to claim him. He is a little guy at 18 pounds and
is UTD on vaccinations. He tested a very light HW+ and is being
treated. We also found that Simon has low thyroid so like many humans
he is on a low cost treatment. He is scheduled to be neutered and
to get his teeth cleaned in a few weeks. Simon is a real snuggler,
when the rescuer took him to the vet he promptly jumped into her
lap and made himself comfortable. He loves to cuddle and gets along
well with children and other dogs, plus he is housebroken. Simon
sez he's looking for a new family...are you the one? UPDATE: Simon
sailed thru his neuter surgery and teeth cleaning and is ready for
a new furever family...Simon sez Look At Me!

so pretty. She knows a few commands like Sit, Stay, Down and Gimme
Five and she walks well on a leash. Peggy Sue is a natural athlete
and would do wonderfully in a performance home, she appears to be
a natural for herding or agility. When she is in the backyard of
the fosters home, she lies in wait on the trampoline, which by the
way she jumps up on without assistance, and when her charges (that's
the birds and squirrels) appear she is promptly on duty moving them
around the yard and the fence line. She gets along well with other
dogs and children and loves taking walks.

Susie-
Susie and Kirby are owner surrenders, their family is having some
difficulty and needed to find a new home for them. Susie is an 8
year old female that is up to date on all shots, is HW- and on heartworm
preventative. Susie is around 15 inches tall and currently weighs
44 pounds, a bit of exercise and a low fat diet will have her strutting
her stuff really soon. Susie is a bit quiet right now but she has
just gone thru some traumatic transitions in her life. Her foster
mom says that Susie has started instigating play with the resident
sheltie and it sure is heartwarming to see her acting like a puppy.
She does get along with other dogs and loves children.
Update
- Susie would like to be with someone who wants a companion close
by their side. She likes to take frequent 5 minute walks, her energy
level is improving daily. She loves to be outside and gets very
excited when her foster mom picks up the leash. She's very alert
to what is going on around her, inside and out. She would be a good
little watch dog of sorts because she is quick to hear even soft
noises outside. She loves her person and loves to be close. In the
mornings she greets her foster mom by putting her front paws up
on the side of the bed. We have recently found that Susie is hypothyroid
and she is now on a very inexpensive medicine to keep it under control.
