Robbie 2 is a 7 ½ year old shaded sable sheltie that just came to us along with Hamish and Lucy.  Robbie is about 16 inches tall and weighs 47 pounds, yes, a diet and exercise is in his near future.  He is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.  Robbie is very affectionate, loves people, and loves to be close to his human.  He is leash trained, knows a few commands, gets along with other dogs and housebroken.

Adopted December 2008

Hamish is a 4 year old tri colored sheltie that came with Robbie and Lucy.  Hamish is about 16 inches tall and weighs about 35 pounds, he will also be going on a diet with some exercise.  Hamish is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.  He gets along with other dogs, is leash trained, and knows a few commands.  His rescuer noticed that Hamish always has a big smile.

Adopted December 2008

Skippy was found waiting for animal control officers at the animal shelter in a nearby town.  He didn’t have a collar or leash and no one ever came for him.  We don’t know why because Skippy is a really nice sable and white sheltie.  He’s 16 inches tall, weighs 29 pounds, is between 1 and 2 years old, up to date on all of his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.  A quick run thru with Skippy, the rescuer found out that he knows several tricks like Sit, Down, and Stay.  He gets along with other dogs and is crate trained.  Skippy will be neutered before he will be available for adoption.

Adopted December 2008

JR is an owner surrender due to a family illness. JR is less than a year old, stands about 18 inches tall, and weighs 36 pounds. He’s a very sweet sable and white sheltie who will be neutered in the very near future. JR is up to date on all of his shots, heartworm negative and on hw preventative. JR is unsure of the leash but is a quick learner, it only took a couple of tries before JR understood Sit and Come. More as we get to know more about JR. JR has been neutered but has suffered some damage to one of his rear legs. He will be having surgery to repair the damage and will not be ready for adoption until November.

UPDATE: A surgeon checked out JR and found that he had a broken hip, this has been repaired and he is on the road to running and playing once again. JR is now very comfortable with the leash and likes to take walks, although they are short right now. Because of the type of break, JR will be ready for adoption a lot sooner that we originally thought. JR loves to lean into the person closest to him, he is such an affectionate boy with so much love to give.

Adopted December 2008

Travis was found wandering around a construction office near Round Rock,  one of the employees called on us after he had been there for several days.  He has a broken leg and will be having surgery to repair the damage.  Travis is 15 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds, is up to date on all of his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.  He will be neutered when he has the surgery on his leg.  Travis is a sweet and trusting fellow that will be so happy when he is able to run and play once again.

UPDATE: When the surgeon went in to repair Travis’s leg he found the damage was too much and the bone was beyond repair.  Travis’s back leg had to be removed but it hasn’t slowed this fellow one bit.  Travis told me “I can run and climb stairs and I love to play with chew toys.  I can go anywhere you can go, and some places you can’t.  I love to be hugged and snuggled and so far I haven’t found a treat that I don’t like.”

Adopted October 2008

Lucky (was Lumpy) was an owner surrender to the local shelter and is the brother of Dodger.  Both boys were turned over to the shelter because the family was having some financial difficulty.  Lucky is a tad more shy then Dodger but warms up fast.  Lucky is sable and white, stands about 12 inches tall and weighs only 15 pounds, he could also use a few more pounds.  He is 3 years old, neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm preventative.   He had some internal parasites when he first came in to rescue but after a few days of medication he is clear.

Adopted October 2008.

Echo is Max’s brother and is a 2 ½ year old beautiful bi-black sheltie from the Thorndale area.  Max and Echo have been with a rescue there for several months and they thought the shelties would have a better chance of the perfect home if he came to our rescue group.  Echo is 17 inches tall and weighs 40 pounds.  He is up to date on all of his shots, is hw negative, on heartworm preventative and neutered.  He is a little shy but warms up fast, housebroken, leash trained, crate trained and is startled by quick loud noises.

Echo gets along well with the foster’s resident shelties.  He got to go with the foster to the neighborhood 4th of July parade.  He had an excellent time meeting and visiting with new adults and small children.  He is very gentle and meets new people easily.  Echo eats and sleeps in his crate and enjoys taking long walks.

Adopted October 2008.

Cookie is a tiny 3 year old female Tri sheltie (12  inches & 13.6 lbs.)  She was turned into Christ-Yoder Animal Shelter in Buchannan Dam by a breeder that didn’t think she produced enough puppies to justify keeping her.  It was really a blessing for her to escape the life she would have had.  She’s UTD and HW- and will be spayed 7/3/08.  She gets along well with other dogs but is in the process of learning to trust humans.  She enjoys sitting in her foster mom’s lap and napping with her on the bed too.  She walks well on a leash.  She’s a real sweetie and will be a great companion when she learns to trust. She has tipped ears and when her coat comes back in she will be gorgeous.

UPDATE: Cookie is really making progress in the trust category.  She asks for pets and wants to be near her human.  She’s very active and has a great deal of athletic ability.  She is protective of her home and warns against strangers. Cookie has loads of personality and is a delight to watch make progress.  She loves toys and tries to hoard all the toys in her special place.  What a hoot she has become.

Adopted October 2008.

Prince is a 2 to 3 year old sheltie/pomeranian mix that came in to the local shelter as a stray, we were so surprised when no one came looking for this precious boy. He’s a sweet little fellow, only about 10 inches tall and about 14 pounds. Prince is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Prince is a bit concerned with all the changes in his life in the last few days but we feel sure that he will relax soon. He is having some difficulty with his rear knees, we are currently evaluating him and may consider doing surgery to help this little fellow get around easier.

Adopted October 2008

Dodger was an owner surrender to the local shelter and is the brother of Lumpy.  Both boys were turned over to the shelter because the family was having some financial difficulty.  Dodger is a shy but oh so sweet tri sheltie.  He is 3 years old, up to date on all of his vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative, and on heartworm preventative.  Dodger is about 13 inches tall and weighs 21 pounds, he could use about 3 or 4 more pounds.  He had some internal parasites when he first came in to rescue but after a few days of medication he is clear.

Adopted September 2008.

Yokimbo (was Jester) – Jester is a happy little 18 month old sheltie we recently pulled from TLAC.  He was turned in by his previous owner because he barked at people coming to their door.  Jester is about 13 inches tall and weighs around 13 pounds ( he needs to gain a few pounds).  He is now up to date on all his vaccinations and is neutered.  But, Jester is low heartworm positive and will have to go thru a low level treatment.  It’s so inexpensive and easy to prevent heartworms, we really wonder why people do not.

Adopted August 2008

Abby (was Penny) is a very sweet girl who came to our group when her breeder owner passed away.   She is a small sable and white sheltie, about 3 years old, 13 inches tall and only weighing about 10 pounds.  She is now up-to-date on all her shots,  heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. She will soon be spayed and have a dental cleaning.

Penny is like Shadow, adjusting to her new foster home after going through a stressful situation of being rescued from an environment where she was neglected. Her thick coat was so matted, that she had to be shaved and she showed some signs of anemia from all of the flea bites. However, she will have a beautiful shiny light sable coat when it grows out. She has learned quickly that she likes people and follows her foster mom around the house but is cautious about being picked up, once in your arms she snuggles down and goes to sleep.  She gets along well with other dogs. Every day a little bit more of her personality shines through as she gets comfortable in her foster home.

Adopted August 2008.

Max is Echo’s brother and is a beautiful 2 ½ year old bi-black sheltie from the Thorndale area.   Max and Echo have been with a rescue there for several months and they thought the shelties would have a better chance of the perfect home if he came to our rescue group.  Max is 18 inches tall and weighs 40 pounds.  He is up to date on all of his shots, is hw negative, on heartworm preventative and neutered.  He is a little shy but warms up fast, housebroken, leash trained, crate trained and is startled by quick loud noises.

Max has now been with one of our Austin foster families who have two young playful shelties for about a month.  He was a little shy at first, but has now warmed up, running and playing with the other 2 Shelties.  He also loves attention from people – petting, ear massages etc.  He likes to play with toys, balls, and rawhide chewies.  He is housebroken, and has learned to use the doggie door.  Loves to eat and sleep in his wire crate.  Walks well on a leash.  He has gone on two all day car trips out of town (with the family and their 2 Shelties).  He settles down quickly in the car.  Max was not shy meeting strangers and new dogs.  Max is a sweet boy.

Adopted August 2008.

Marley is a cute as a button 6 year old sable and white sheltie.  She was found several months ago wandering outside of Georgetown and has recently been turned over to our rescue.  Marley is up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on hw preventative.  Marley is a few pounds overweight and will be working on an exercise and weight loss program.  She gets along with other dogs and loves to play with the tennis balls.  More as we get to know more about her.

Adopted July 2008

Chili – Chili is a 13 year old sweetheart that was surrendered to us by her owner because of a change in lifestyle.  She gets along with kids, cats, other dogs and is just a gentle sweet older lady in good health.  Chili is up to date on her vaccinations.  After she is spayed and has her teeth cleaned she is going to feel so much better.  Chili is 14 inches tall and weighs 33 pounds, right now she is working on getting rid of a few pounds.

Adopted July 2008

Sallie was turned in to the local shelter because her family could not afford her, we don’t know why since she is little and appears to be very healthy. She appears to be a mini-aussie; is about 12 to 13 inches tall and a little chunky at 22 pounds. She says she just needs some exercise to get rid of those extra pounds. Sallie is a little skittish at first but warms up quickly and rolls on her back for tummy skritches. Sallie is 4 years old, up to date on all shots, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and spayed.

Adopted July 2008

Frankie – Frankie is a 1 to 2 year old sable and white male sheltie that was picked up in Round Rock by their animal control. No one came looking for Frankie so he was turned over to Austin Sheltie Rescue. Frankie is now neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. Frankie gets along with other dogs and is housebroken. He is about 12 to 13 inches tall and weighs 19 pounds, he needs to gain a few. Frankie is heartworm positive and will have to go through treatment; he will be available in the summer after his treatment is complete.

Adopted July 2008

Taz is an 8-10 month old sheltie mix that came in to rescue with the hopes of finding a home where he can run and play. He is about 15 inches tall, and weighs 25 pounds. Taz is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and one happy active fellow that loves everyone. He loves toys, tennis balls, playing fetch and playing with other dogs. He has learned to sleep through the night in a crate, and how to use a doggie door. He is housebroken. He recently went on an all day car trip with his foster family and their shelties and loved traveling. Loves to play with the two shelties, as well as neighborhood dogs. Loves chewies, stuffed animals, rawhide bones and flip chips. Taz is very affectionate to other dogs, and especially people. His tail wags all the time. When offered a treat, he automatically sits and takes the treats politely. He recently went on the annual Mighty Texas Dogwalk, and loved the 3 mile walk with thousands of other dogs and owners. Taz is a sweet and happy boy!

Adopted July 2008

Scottie was found as a stray by one of our foster moms, signs and posters were put up but no one ever came to claim this sweet little fellow.  Scottie is between 2 and 3 years old and neutered.  He is up to date on his shots but we found after his trip to the vet that he has heartworms.  We will be starting his treatment shortly.  As you can tell from the pictures, Scottie is a busy little fellow with lots of energy.  Scottie is housebroken and is learning to walk on a leash.

Adopted June 2008

Kira was surrendered to our rescue with the request we help her find an excellent home. She was born in November of 2007 and is up to date on all her vaccinations and is on heartworm preventative. Kira is a bouncy beautiful girl who loves to play fetch and tug of war. She lives with cats and is learning not to chase them. She is currently working on house breaking and is most of the way there. She walks well on a leash and knows sit (if you have a treat). She will be spayed prior to be adopted.

Adopted May 2008

Mandi is an 8 year old sable & white female that came to us from the local shelter. She was left in the overnight box with a series of small, curable problems.  She has now been spayed and is being treated for a skin condition and an eye infection.  Mandi weighs about 25 pounds, is up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.

Adopted April 2008.

Sadie

Sadie is a 4 to 5 year old sable merle that was surrendered to a local shelter because the family didn’t have time for her anymore.  She is 16 to 17 inches tall and weighs 31 pounds.  Sadie is up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.  Sadie is a sweet girl with a very happy tail.

The following is what her foster dad has to say about her – Great disposition, very cautious as first but warms up quickly, very affectionate, good with adults and other animals, including cats, wants to please, responds to soft voice commands, seems to be housebroken (no accidents), understands “off limits” places in the house (i.e. laundry room where litter box and cat food reside). Needs a great home with lots of love for her.

Adopted April 2008.

Ranger was found as a stray, the finder put up signs and posters but he was never claimed so she turned him over to rescue. Ranger has had his trip to the vet and is now current on all his shots and vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and other than needing a dental he is in good health. Ranger is a mellow fellow that gets along with everyone, including other dogs, cats and small children. Ranger is around 3 to 4 years old, stands about 17 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. His foster family says Ranger loves to run and play with the resident dogs. He is housebroken and leash trained. Ranger also know a few tricks, like Sit and Shake and will give you both front paws for a HUG. Ranger is very sweet and affectionate.

Adopted March 2008

Ricky

Ricky is a 4 year old sable & white male, with beautifully tipped ears, that was surrendered to us because of changes in family. He is about 18 inches tall and weighs 57 pounds. Ricky is up to date on all his shots, HW negative, on heartworm preventative and is now neutered. Ricky is a sweet fellow that can sometimes be a bit shy.

Adopted February 2008

Pounce

Pounce was left at the local shelter with a note that they didn’t have enough time for him anymore. Pounce is almost 11 years old and is a sweet fellow. He is neutered, weighs 22 pounds, is up to date on all vax, HW negative and on HW preventative. Pounce may have a little arthritis, he will be assessed while in foster care.

UPDATE: His foster says: Pounce is a love sponge. He loves to be with humans, comes when you speak his name, and snuggles every chance he gets. Pounce finds a nice quiet spot and settles in. He’s taken over one of my WallyBeds, and the resident Shelties haven’t challenged him for it. I think he would prefer a nice quiet home. He’s not a talker and just ignores my loud rambunctious pack when they get started on one of their many barkfests. I haven’t noticed any problem with movement. He goes up and down steps easily and runs in the yard at will. We’re working on his hair coat. He has allowed me to brush through his tangles for short periods, but when he becomes uncomfortable with it, we stop. His coat appears to have been neglected so it’s probably new to him to have someone brush him. But, he’s learning quickly that it’s not all bad. An added bonus, he’s completely housebroken.

Adopted February 2008
