Peggy Sue (was Pippa) – Peggy Sue was a family surrender after her owner passed away. The family would have liked to have kept Peggy Sue but a family member is highly allergic to dogs and cats. Peggy Sue is a 5 year old blue merle with perfectly tipped ears. She is 16 inches tall and weighs 41 pounds. Peggy Sue is house trained and she gets along with other dogs. She loves to take walks and that along with a good diet will help her start to work off that extra weight. Right now Peggy Sue is very concerned about her changes and is being very shy but we are sure she will start coming out of her shell.

UPDATE: Because of confusion between Pippa and Pippin, Pippa got a new name, Peggy Sue, and she really likes it. Peggy Sue is coming out of her shell, she likes to play with toys and tennis balls. Even though her exercise level has increased and her food intake has decreased, Peggy Sue is gaining weight. She will be getting a thyroid test to see if she is like many shelties, hypothyroid. If so, she will be taking a low priced supplement.

UPDATE: Peggy Sue does not have thyroid issues, she is just having problems losing weight. Foster mom has put her on a weight management food, which she loves, and will continue working with her to get rid of a few extra pounds.

Adopted November 2015

Prince 3 – Prince is 8 years old, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventive, neutered and micro-chipped. Prince gets along well with other dogs and prefers to be in a house with other dogs, Prince has always been with other dogs and needs them to keep him busy. He gets along well with small children. Prince is about 16 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds.

Prince has a sweet and friendly personality, although he is cautious when he first meets people, especially males. He is a bit ‘chatty’ and will let you know when he sees a car, bird, etc. He gets along well with other dogs. He knows several commands including: sit, down, and wait. If you put a treat on his paw and tell him to ‘wait’, he will not take the treat until you tell him he can! He also knows how to use a doggie door and enjoys spending time in the back yard running and playing.

She is sable and white and just turned 5. Roxy has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive. Howie – Howie is a tiny white and brown male puppy found as a stray and turned over to AAC.   We aren’t quite sure what his mix is but because he is so cute, we just know there is some sheltie in there somewhere. He had a big abscess on his forehead which has been treated and is healing well.  We are estimating he came in at 7 weeks old, so we’ve put his birthday as the first of February, 2015.  He’s a cute little guy, he started out at a little over 2 pounds.  He will be going thru the usual puppy shots and will not be available for adoption until after he is neutered, which should be done in July.

UPDATE:    Howie is not a sheltie or sheltie mix.  We did a DNA test and found that he is hypoallergenic, doesn’t shed, and will always be a small guy.  Howie is now up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered.  At 6 months he is a little guy at only 7 to 8 pounds.  He is working on crate training and house training. Howie is a happy little fellow, loves everyone, loves playing with other dogs, loves being handled and snuggled, and his favorite place is in your lap while you watch TV.

Jackson – Jackson is one of many collies that were rescued by Houston Collie Rescue from a hoarding situation, ASR volunteered to help out with a few of them. Jackson is 5 years old and is a male light sable and white smooth collie. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, but is heartworm positive and somewhat malnourished. We will want to help him get healthy before he goes thru treatment and is neutered so it will be a few months before he is ready for adoption. Jackson is around 24 inches tall and weighs 38 pounds, he should weigh around 60 pounds. He appears to be house trained and is very mild mannered and calm. When he first meets people he comes up and leans into them for a few pets and strokes. Jackson gets along well with other dogs.

If you would like to know more about the collie please check out this information from the AKC.

UPDATE:  Jackson has completed his heartworm treatment and is so enjoying every minute of every day.  His foster mom says he is a gentle giant among her little ones even when the little ones pick on him.  He walks well on a leash, likes to walk side by side with his foster mom and meet new people on their walks.  He is house trained and will squeeze thru a dog door for dogs half his size to get outside.  Jackson is a bit concerned about incoming visitors but soon warms up to them.  He loves to be brushed and will lay his head on your knee for loving.  Jackson likes to play with toys and will periodically jump for joy.
