Bandit (was Boots) is a young energetic boy who came to us from a family in San Antonio who did not have time for him. He is a very handsome sable and white neutered male who is appx 19 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. He is 20 months old. He has been brought up-to-date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is currently on heartworm preventative.

Bandit is a very smart dog who is a quick learner. He has had some obedience training and responds to several commands. He walks very well on a leash and enjoys his long walks outdoors where he is curious about everything. He has quite a personality and will make you laugh with his antics and inquisitiveness. He is crate-trained; however, he will play a game of chase with you before he goes in his crate.

Bandit loves to play fetch with his toys and also likes to romp and play with the dogs at his foster home. Since he is a tall sheltie, he has a beautiful long stride when he runs.

Since Bandit has so much energy, it is important that his new family have time to exercise him daily and include him in their activities. He would enjoy a large yard to run around in and to play ball. He would do well with children who could keep him busy and active. Since he gets along with the dogs in his foster home, he would do well in a home with other dogs. However, he also likes alot of attention, so he would also do well as the only dog.

Bandit is reserved when he first meets you and may bark at you; however, he will warm up to you quickly. He will definitely warn you if there are strangers outside or near your home.

Adopted December 2009.

Riley (was ChaChi) came to us from Temple where he had been picked up as a stray  He’s a 4-5 year old neutered male about 16 inches tall and 30 lbs.  He’s a little fluffy so a diet and exercise is in his future.  He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and is heartworm negative.  Riley is very friendly and loves to be petted, he gets along with the resident dogs.  He knew he was rescued when one of our volunteers picked him up from the shelter.  He walked right out of the shelter on leash and leaped into the crate without being asked.  It’s like she couldn’t get it open fast enough for him.  Riley is a beautiful and well behaved fellow, he lets his foster know when it is time to go outside by barking and is learning to use the doggie door.

Adopted December 2009.

Duchess – Shadow and Duchess were Owner Surrenders because of a family life style change. Duchess is a 7 year old tri (black, white and sable) female. Duchess weighs 27 pounds and stands about 15 inches tall. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. Duchess is heartworm positive and will have to go thru treatment. Duchess is a gentle, sweet girl that has decided the couch is where she rules her domain.

Adopted December 2009.

Sandy is a beautiful sable and white Sheltie that came to us from Buchanan Dam where he was found as a stray. He is about 12 years old and weighs 23 lbs. His small stature is no match for all the love in his heart. He has to be “with” you. He loves to be held and to take a nap in your lap. Definitely a LAP DOG. He learned to use the doggie door the first day by watching the other dogs use it. He enjoys the company of the resident shelties at the foster family’s home. He loves to play with stuffed toys, plays tug, and loves to fetch and bring the toy back to you for more. Sandy comes up to you for love, scritches, and strokes. He gives kisses. He has a good appetite and has been gaining much needed weight since being with his foster family. He loves car rides & treats (soft & broken up into small pieces). We think he may have “selective” hearing. He will make a great companion and a loving lap dog.

Adopted December 2009.

Bonnie came in to the Georgetown city shelter as a stray. She is between 1 and 2 years old, sable and white, about 11 inches tall and a little fluffy at 14 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm preventative. She was quite shy at the shelter but once out of the shelter and in the parking lot of the vet clinic she immediately wanted to play, dropped into a play bow and started bouncing all around. It was like she was celebrating getting rescued and was ready to party.

Adopted December 2009.

Daisy (was Pattie Cake) was a foundling in S. Austin that was never claimed.  The finder surrendered her so that we could help her find herself a great home.  Daisy is 3 or 4 years old, up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and spayed.  She is 16 inches tall and weighs around 35 pounds.  Daisy is now on a diet to help her lose some of the extra weight.  Daisy is a sweet girl that loves everyone and all of the recent changes in her life haven’t dampened her spirit at all.

Adopted November 2009.

Penny (was Jenny), a sable and white sheltie mix, who came to us from TLAC. She had been found as a stray and taken to the Emergency Clinic because of the difficulty she had walking. The EC found that she had several scrapes, and some fractures in her pelvis. The EC turned her over to TLAC, who called us asking if we could help this sweet girl. Penny is about 18 months old, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, hw negative and on heartworm preventative. She has now had an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy, removal of the femoral head) and is starting a slow recuperation. Penny will be confined to a crate for 6 to 8 weeks to allow the fractures in her pelvis time to heal and then will start rehabilitation on her hip. It won’t be long before this sweet little girl is up and about, wanting to play. Penny is about 12 inches tall and currently weighs 11 pounds, as she recuperates we are going to see what we can do to help her gain a little weight.

UPDATE:  Check out the new pictures of Penny.  She is doing great.  She is mobile once again, eager to investigate the fosters backyard and play with the resident dogs.  Penny is a playful little girl that once let out of confinement immediately started making one on one friends with those around her.  Her foster mom says she is not limping at all, can run full tilt down the sidewalk and is ready to find a new home.  She gives kisses to all of those that have helped her to get better.

Adopted November 2009.

Sherry came to us from nearby Round Rock.  She was picked up as stray late one evening and turned over to us.  Sherry is a sheltie collie mix and when her coat comes back in it will be a mahogany sable and white.  Sherry is about 18 months old, stands 18 or 19 inches tall and is currently underweight.  She came to us with some skin infections  that have cleared up nicely.  Sherry also has some problems with her hip, hip dysplasia, and will be having an FHO when she is spayed.  Sherry is heartworm positive and will be going through treatment after she has healed from the surgery.  Even after all she has been through Sherry adores people, she is gentle and loving, she gets along well with other dogs and with cats.  She is housebroken and will lean into you to show how much she loves you.  Sherry should be ready for her new home in December.

Adopted November 2009.

Deke is a sweet boy who was rescued, along with Kyle, from a bad situation outside of San Antonio. He is a very handsome sable and white neutered sheltie who is 16 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. He is appx 4 years old. He has been brought up-to-date on all his vaccinations. Unfortunately, he tested positive for heartworms and is currently going thru the heartworm treatment. He should be ready for adoption in mid-October.

Deke has adjusted very well in his foster home after going through a stressful situation of being rescued from an environment where he lived outdoors in a pen.

Deke has been busy learning about life in his new world of freedom. First, he had to learn how to eat out of a bowl. He was not housebroken; however, he has made very good progress on this. He has learned to walk well on a leash and was enjoying his daily walks until his heartworm treatment started. He has also learned that it is fun to go on car rides. He is a very lovable dog and quickly learned to enjoy hugs and kisses from humans!

Deke is a very well-behaved, quiet, and mellow dog. One of his favorite things to do is to sleep under the desk on a big fluffy doggie cushion while his foster mom works on the computer.

Since Deke did not have much human interaction before, he is still shy and reserved when new people come his house. However, he warms up quickly once he gets to know you.

Deke would do very well in a home with other dogs or cats, preferably non-aggressive ones. He gets along very well with his foster “brothers” as well as other dogs who come to visit. Since he is not aggressive, he will probably also do well with cats. He is ok with older children; however, we are not sure if he would do well in a home with young children.

Deke is such a sweetheart and is going to make a wonderful and loving companion for some lucky person/family out there!

Adopted November 2009

Kyle came to us with Deke from a small rescue close to San Antonio. Kyle is 4 years old, he is a sable and white sheltie that has spent most of his life outside in a pen. He is about 16 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered. Because of poor care before he came to us, Kyle is heartworm positive and will have to go thru a 2 month treatment. Kyle is a quiet sheltie that is a bit frightened right now. He is learning about love, attention, leashes and snuggles.

Adopted October 2009.

Rocky 2 just came to us from Temple where he was found wandering lost in a neighborhood. Rocky is a bi-black male sheltie, it looks like he was shaved at the beginning of summer and by the time winter gets here, Rocky is going to have a beautiful black and white coat. He is about 4 years old and neutered. Rocky stands about 15 inches tall and weighs 23 pounds. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He is a bit reserved, as are most shelties, and he gets along with other dogs.

Adopted October 2009.

Happy – The name completely describes this girl. She is so happy, she loves everyone and always has a smile on her face and a wag in her tail. Happy was found as a stray in Harker Heights and when her owner never showed up, the shelter asked if we could take her into our program. Happy is one to two years old, up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Happy is about 16 inches tall and weighs about 25 pounds.

Adopted October 2009.

Murray (was Hunter) was an owner surrendered to a shelter.  He’s 7 years old, about 13 1/2 inches at the shoulder and weighs 29 pounds.  He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, HW negative and on heartworm preventative.  He has been checked for liver and kidney functions, which were normal.  He is low thyroid, which is controlled with Soloxine, a very inexpensive medication..  He also had a full dental, due to some infection in his mouth when he was turned over to us.

Hunter never meets a stranger, human or canine, and has a wonderful stable temperament.  He is very active and loves to play fetch with balls and soft frisbees and tugs some with his rope toy.  He’s completely house and crate trained and loves to follow his human’s every step.  He is not a big barker, although will alert when something is not normal.  Hunter gets along great with his temp foster mom’s other dogs, he also gets along great with cats and small children.

Adopted October 2009.

Jazz is a 4-5 year old sable and white female sheltie-pomeranian mix who is appx 12 inches tall and a bit overweight at 20 pounds. She came to us from TLAC where she was picked up as a stray dog. Jazz is spayed and has been brought up-to-date on all her vaccinations. When she came into our rescue program, she tested positive for heartworms. However, she has finished the heartworm treatment and is now healthy and ready for adoption.

Jazz is a bouncy, energetic dog who loves to run and play. Her tail never stops wagging as she is one happy dog. However, she also has a very lovable side and enjoys being cuddled and will shower you with lots of kisses. One of her favorite things is tummy rubs…………she thinks she is in heaven when she is getting her tummy rubbed!

Jazz is a spunky girl who crawls out from under the bed in the morning and is ready to take on the world. She gets along very well with the other dogs in her foster home and loves to play chase with them. She will give them kisses and then before they know it, she has gotten in between them and her human so she can get all the attention.

Jazz is a real charmer and is ready to fall in love with her new “furever” family. This little girl is a true bundle of joy!!!

Adopted September 2009

Simone came to us from the local shelter where she was picked up as a stray.  She is a gorgeous 6 year old sable merle sheltie mix with 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye, the brown eye has a spot of blue in the middle.  She stands about 18 inches tall and weighs 22 pounds. Simone is up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.  Simone’s foster family says she is a real sweetheart, she likes children and gets along great with cats and other dogs.  Simone loves the outdoors.  She bonds quickly and is very protective of her family and surroundings.  She barks at what she determines to be an intruder until she is assured it’s okay.  She wants to be loved by her human all the time but is very obedient.  She understands “no” and always comes when she’s called.  She had a great time at the Sheltie Picnic and had no problem accepting the visitors to her foster home.  She’ll make someone a great companion.

Adopted September 2009.

Maggie is a 4-year-old owner surrender to ASR. Maggie is a sable and white spayed sheltie. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Maggie is currently undergoing treatment for ear and eye infections. These are quickly clearing up with medications and should be clear within the next few weeks. This petite little girl, she’s 15 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds, is shy and does have a tendency to nip if you come up behind her unexpectedly or if she feels threatened. As a result, it’s not recommended that she go to a home with small children. With patience and time, she is opening up to her foster family and showing her personality. Her favorite thing is to be petted endlessly. She’s just a little love sponge and when those big brown eyes look at you, it’s hard to refuse.

Adopted August 2009

Goldie

Goldie was a stray in nearby Harker Heights and when her owner didn’t come for her, the animal control officers contacted us. Goldie is 18 months old with a beautiful gold and white sable coat. She is 16 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. Goldie is a happy girl that always has a smile on her face. She was a little nervous when she first came into rescue but immediately realized that everyone was there to help and the smile, tail wags and wiggles started up. Goldie is up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.

Adopted July 2009

Sunny (was Cindy) is a gorgeous 3-year old shaded sable and white female who is approximately 15 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. She was left behind when her family moved out of the house and she was left to fend for herself. Fortunately, a wonderful neighbor family stepped in and took care of Sunny for several days and then contacted our rescue group.

Sunny has been brought up to date on all her vaccinations and is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. She was recently spayed and is now ready for adoption.

Sunny is an extremely sweet girl who enjoys lots of attention. She is an absolute ‘lovebug’. She likes to follow you around the house and be wherever her humans are. She gets along very well with children and enjoys being around other dogs. She is not an aggressive dog and has a very nice, calm personality. She walks very well on a leash and enjoys her walks. She also enjoys exploring the outdoors, especially if there are squirrels to chase! She also enjoys rides in the car.

Sunny has been a perfect guest in her foster home. She is a very obedient dog who is housebroken.

Sunny is sometimes shy when she first meets someone. However, she warms up very quickly. She seems to be more comfortable around women and sometimes acts like she is a bit afraid of men.

This wonderful dog needs to be adopted by someone who will love her and pay lots of attention to her. In return, Sunny will shower you with kisses to let you know she loves you too!

Adopted June 2009

Toni came to us from San Antonio where she had been found in a very cruel and neglectful situation. Toni has some major skin issues which are being treated and each day she shows major improvements. Toni is so happy to be in rescue and away from all the troubles of her past, she now has a spring in her step, is bouncy and has a very positive attitude. After we get her skin problems under control, she will be spayed and then because she tested positive for heartworms, she will begin heartworm treatment. Toni is about 4 years old, weighs 17 pounds, is a tri colored sheltie and should be ready for adoption in the spring.

Adopted June 2009

Lulabell was a stray that was turned into the local shelter. She is about 3 years old, sable merle (she has some lovely silver in her coat) and white, she is about 18 inches tall and weighs 38 pounds. Lulabell is up to date on all of her vaccinations but is infested with heartworms and will have to go thru treatment plus will have to be spayed. Since her infestation is so high we are taking her thru a very slow process of treatment and she won’t be ready for adoption until at least May.

Adopted June 2009

Molly – Jolly Molly is a love bug who loves to stay close to her humans – you might call her a velcro dog since she sticks right to you!  At just over a year old, this sheltie mix is housebroken and can sit, down, and sometimes stay on command as well as shake hands. She’s a smart girl who loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  Molly is shy to new situations and people but she will quickly warm up with a little patience..  Don’t tell her that she’s too large to curl up in your lap – she’s not convinced that she’s too big for that and will attempt to curl in the smallest ball to fit any size lap.  With energy to burn, you’ll find a great running or walking companion in Molly.   This large girl is well suited to families with older children and it’s not recommended that she join a family with cats since she has a tendency to chase them in to the trees.  Come and meet Miss Molly – she would love to have a family of her own that will give her the attention and love she deserves.

Adopted June 2009

Boss is one of 4 shelties that came to us because of the health issues in his former family.  Boss is a 5 year old shaded sable and white male sheltie.  He stands about 14 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds, needs to lose a few.  Boss is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.  Boss is a little shy but seems to warm up quickly.

Adopted June 2009

Maxie came to us from the local shelter where she had been picked up as a stray. Maxie is an 8 year old sable and white sheltie, she weighs 26 pounds and stands about 15 inches tall. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative and is spayed. Maxie is housebroken and was a little shy when her rescuer picked her up at TLAC, but after only a few minutes she was leaning into the rescuer with her tail wagging asking for pets, hugs and scratches.

Adopted June 2009.

Princess also came in with Ginger, Boss and Bruce.  She is the littermate to Ginger, is 7 years old, is about 15 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds.  It is very hard to tell Princess and Ginger apart, they look so much alike.  She is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.

Adopted May 2009.

Shadow is a very sweet girl who came to our group from a backyard breeder. She is a small bi-black sheltie who is 14 inches tall and weighs 20 pounds. She is appx 8 -10 years old. She has a few white markings, including a spot of white on the very tip of her tail, and white eyelashes! She is up-to-date on all her shots. She is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. Shortly after coming into our rescue program, she was spayed, had a hernia repaired, and had a dental cleaning.

Shadow has adjusted very well to her new foster home after going through a stressful situation of being rescued from an environment where she was neglected, but not abused. Her thick coat was so matted that she had to be shaved. However, her hair has grown back and she is now a beautiful dog with a shiny and thick black coat.

Immediately after arriving at her foster home, it was discovered that she is deaf. But she is a fast learner, and will come to you with a hand signal. She could quickly learn other hand commands.

Shadow is housebroken and does not jump on any of the furniture in the house. She walks well on a leash.

Shadow is a very well-behaved, laid-back, and quiet dog (not a barker). She is very lovable and enjoys attention and will paw at you to be petted. She is not aggressive and gets along very well with dogs and cats. She is also friendly with all people and seems to enjoy children…..especially younger ones.

Shadow would probably do best in a home with other dogs since she seems to enjoy being part of the ‘pack’! In reality, she probably relies on the other dogs to do her hearing for her.

After what this little angel has been through before being rescued, Shadow certainly deserves to be given a second chance in life in a wonderful loving home.

Adopted April 2009.

Bruce came into the rescue with Boss.  He is Boss’s littermate and is 5 years old.  He is a sable and white male sheltie that is about 17 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds, could lose around 5 pounds.  Bruce is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.   More as we get to know Bruce while he is in foster care.

Adopted March 2009.

Ginger 3 also came into rescue with Boss and Bruce.  Ginger is a 7 year old sable and white female sheltie.  She is the tallest at about 18 inches and she weighs 38 pounds, she also needs to lose a few.  Ginger is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.  Ginger is in her new foster home and we will have an update on her soon.

She is up to date on all her vaccinations, HW-, on HW preventative and will be getting her teeth cleaned soon. Savannah gets along with other dogs, she likes hugs, snuggles and lots of petting. Savannah rides well in a car and walks well on a leash. Savannah is about 15 inches tall and weighs 28 pounds and has lots of love to give to just the right person or family.

Adopted February 2009.

Coty just came to us from around La Grange.  He was dropped off into the front yard of a very caring person.  She noticed his sweet personality and she called on us to help him. She took care of getting rid of the severely matted hair and long nails that were curling under his paws.  Coty is neutered, 4-5 years old, 15 inches tall, 26 pounds and up to date on his vaccinations.  He is also hw negative and is on heartworm preventative.  We found that Coty has a staph infection on his tummy which we are treating.  More as we get to know more about this fellow’s personality.

UPDATE:  Coty is settling in to his foster home and getting along famously with the resident kitties and resident dog.  We found that Coty is hypothyroid and requires an inexpensive medicine twice a day.  Since he has started on the medication his coat has started coming in beautifully,  his skin problems are clearing up, and the weight is starting to come off.

Adopted February 2009.

Sadie is a small sheltie mix that was rescued in a nearby town.  Sadie is about 3 years old, 12 inches tall, and weighs about 24 pounds.  When she was rescued she had developed a bad case of flea dermatitis.  Her skin is now healing from all the itching and her coat is growing back.  She is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, HW negative and on heartworm preventative.  Sadie is a super sweet young lady that loves to snuggle.  She is housebroken, gets along beautifully with cats and small children.  Sadie is a gentle girl that doesn’t bark much.
