Charlie – as Duke (he didn’t like Duke and was just not going to respond) was a foundling in the Canyon Lake area. The finders took him to a vet clinic in New Braunfels who contacted us. Charlie is probably 10 years old and has some hearing loss. He is now up to date on vaccinations, neutered, had a recent dental and sadly, he is heartworm positive. It will be at least May before he has completed his treatment and become available. Charlie is well mannered inside the house, is house trained, gets along with other dogs, and walks well on a leash.

UPDATE: Charlie has finished his heartworm treatment and has gotten a clean bill of health. Charlie is quite the social dog, he loves taking walks and meeting other dogs and people on the walks..

Adopted December 2018

Lefty (now Buddy) – Lefty came to us from the WILCO Animal Shelter in Georgetown. He had been picked up as a stray along a backroad. He is a handsome blue merle male who is about 4 years old. He is 15 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.

UPDATE: Lefty is shy and very nervous when he first meets someone. However, once he gets to know you, he is a very lovable boy who likes a lot of attention. He knows some commands (i.e. sit, lay down, up, and give me kisses). He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He does not like cats, so would not do well in a home with cats. He is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on a leash. Lefty is very energetic and likes to play fetch with his toys. Lefty is a very afraid of cars. However, with many hours of training, he will now jump in a car’s back seat to eat his food. His new family will need to continue working with him on getting him in their car. This sweet and handsome boy needs a family with an active lifestyle who has time to continue to train him, play with him, take him for walks, and spend a lot of time just loving and being with him. He likes children and would do well in a family with children who are 6 years or older.

Adopted December 2018

Jolie – Jolie was an owner surrender to the Austin Animal Center due to anxiety. Jolie is a sheltie mix (we see some beagle and possibly dachshund), about 8 months old, spayed and heartworm negative. She is up to date on all her vaccinations and is on heartworm preventive. Jolie gets along great with other dogs and immediately loves young children. Jolie gets nervous in new situations and with new adults. She also tends to be a bit submissive and is easily frightened by harsh actions. Once she is used to the adults, she is very loving and snuggly. Jolie is mostly housetrained and loves to take walks on leashes. She loves meeting other dogs on walks but is cautious about adults. Jolie’s favorite quote is “Ain’t but three things in this world that’s worth a solitary dime, But old dogs and children and watermelon wine”, although she says she would rather have just the watermelon. She is a super sweet young lady, working on good manners and looking for a wonderful home that will understand her.

Shorty is still working on his housetraining and now that he has been neutered, it should be easier for him. At 7 to 8 months Shorty is small, only about 10 pounds. Brazos – Brazos was dumped in a family’s front yard in the Waco area. The owners of the home turned him over to us and asked that we find him a much better home than he had had. When he came in to us he was filthy, he had so much dust and mats on him he looked like he could be a blue merle, after a bath we found that he is actually a sable merle. He had sticks, twigs and leaves imbedded in his coat and some of his toenails were over 2 inches long. But even with all of this, Brazos had a beautiful sheltie spirit. He stood patiently for over an hour while we washed, brushed, trimmed and dried him. Brazos is 6 to 8 years old, neutered, and is up to date on all vaccinations, he has also had a recent dental. But sadly, the same people that dumped him in a strangers yard also did not provide heartworm preventive, Brazos is heartworm positive and will have to go thru heartworm treatment. Brazos is about 16 inches tall and weighs 59 pounds. He is currently on a low calorie diet and is exercising to lose the weight Brazos will not be available until January 2018. Brazos does walk beautifully on a leash and has excellent house manners.
