From Alani’s mother: It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I must tell you we had to say goodbye to Alani early this morning. His health was declining rapidly this week. We took him to vet Thursday and got bloodwork but no results yet. But we had to take him to ER this morning because he could barely stand up on his own. He’s been having labored breathing. Found out there was fluid build up outside his lungs. We did not want to do surgery when we knew he was already too weak at his age. He was my first dog and we knew it would be extremely hard on us when the time came because he truly was the best dog. Go find Quinn and give him the biggest hug for us, Alani

Adopted December 2014

Alani is one of many collies that were rescued by Houston Collie Rescue from a hoarding situation, ASR volunteered to help out with a few of them. Alani is around a year old and is a male sable and white smooth collie. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive. He is between 18 and 22 inches tall and weighs about 30 pounds. He has suffered severe neglect so he does need to gain a few pounds, most collies weigh over 50 pounds. He is not house trained but is working on it, he does walk on a leash, but will need a bit more training. He will be neutered before he can be adopted. Since Alani is just a big puppy right now he has a lot of energy and loves to run, play chase, and jump over anything stationary. He gets along well with people and other dogs.
