December 11, 2025: Patsy Belle rode her last rodeo this week. My hubby always called her Patsy Belle, Rodeo Queen. She was found as a stray in Live Oak, TX, running around with a Malamute, and released to ASR in January 2019. Our best guess was that she was 10 years old. Such a sweetie, had a damaged eye and a damaged heart (significant heart murmur). We tried to treat her eye, but finally had to have it removed. She was super cool with the change. Come to think of it, she was super cool with most anything. She quickly became a permanent foster because of the increasing medical bills and the knowledge that she could leave us at any time. The heart doctors weren’t optimistic about her chances. She was also stubborn…she stood up to the heart problems and enjoyed life until the very end…almost 17 years old based on the estimate when she came in. Last night I carried her into the house at bedtime, she lay down, and within minutes she quietly left us. Godspeed, Patsy Belle, you were special.

2019: Patsy was a stray in nearby Live Oak. She is about 10 years old, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, and on heartworm preventive. She weighs 18 pounds and stands about 14 inches tall. She has a perky attitude and gets along well with everyone in her foster home. Patsy has a grade 4 heart murmur and currently has an appointment with a cardiologists for further testing. Patsy also has no sight in one eye, it appears she suffered an injury some time ago to the eyeball and a cataract has formed preventing any sight from that eye. None of this slows her down, she is a happy bouncy little girl that is house trained and crate trained.
