An owner has come to Austin Sheltie Rescue and asked for help with rehoming her 6 1/2 year old sheltie, he was born 11/03/2023. Here is her approved posting.

This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write. We are heartbroken, but we’ve come to the painful decision to rehome our beloved Sheltie, Sully.
Sully is not just a dog—he’s family. He’s a beautiful, sweet-natured 6 and a half year-old Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) who has brought us so much joy. He’s in perfect health, fully house-trained, and incredibly loving and extremely loyal.
Sully’s favorite activity is playing fetch—he could play for hours! But he also loves to lounge on the couch and simply be around his people. He’s happiest when he’s near us, soaking up affection and being part of the family and at the same time can be independent while we move about our day.
However, despite every effort, Sully and his grown son have not been getting along; intermittently, and it’s become clear that they can no longer safely live together. It’s breaking our hearts, but we know he deserves a peaceful, happy home.
We’re looking for a loving, forever home for Sully—ideally:
• With no other dogs (especially no males) females are fine
• A calm, stable environment where he can feel secure
• Someone who understands and loves the Sheltie breed
This isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly—it’s being done out of love and in his best interest.
If you or someone you know can offer Sully a warm, caring home, please message me. We’re not looking to “get rid” of him—we’re looking for the right fit, someone who will treasure him as we have.
Sully is up to date on vaccinations and heartworm tests, is neutered, and is on monthly heartworm preventive.
